About Gary Almquist |

Gary started in television news at a time when 16 mm film was being
phased out.
He says, "At first, we were happy to have images that were in focus and
close to the proper exposure. Looking back, It was a great experience to learn
the basics of film, many of which transferred to video and photography in general." Since
then, he and his coworkers went through all the format changes in video as
that medium matured. Gary says, "I needed to mature and change as well. In the early 80's, I
was a happy-go-lucky pleasure seeker, until a series of events changed my life.
A coworker went through some Bible verses with me, and I found out that the way
I was living was taking me toward destruction. (Romans 3:10 & 6:23) I
had grown up going to church, but had never understood that Christ's sacrifice
was for me, personally. Finally acknowledging that fact, and simply allowing
Him
to become Lord of my life was what I needed, and now my work and my life
are
for Him." A few years later, marriage and family brought about more changes. Cameras became digital and computer-based editing brought countless new possibilities. After spending more that 20 years working in television news in the Lincoln and Omaha area, it was time for a move across the state. Almquist Digital Video was started in 1999, and since then has helped individuals and groups use video to communicate their messages and artfully document their important events. (back) |
